Day 01 Windhoek to Swakopmund – Namibia

Windhoek – Namib Desert Camp (350 km) (LD) (camping)

Departing from Windhoek at 08h30 we drive via Okahandja and Usakos to the lagoon at Walvis Bay where you will have a light lunch. At this a protected RAMSAR Site for birds you will see many species of wetland birds, including the greater and lessor Flamingo. Arriving in Swakopmund in the mid-afternoon you will have time to explore this quaint seaside town on foot and experience the German colonial influences of the prime beach resort in Namibia. Your guide can recommend a good restaurant for your evening meal (own expense). You will also meet up with the guests joining the adventure to Sossusvlei after their Etosha Safari. Overnight accommodation in Swakopmund is on a twin share basis with en-suite facilities. (L)

Day 02 Swakopmund to Lodge at Sesriem – Namibia

ur day starts with breakfast and some free time to enjoy optional adventure activities in Swakopmund, the adventure capital of Namibia. Activities in Swakopmund include a sand boarding and quad biking combination excursion into the coastal dune fields. This Namibia Safari Adventure to Swakopmund & Sossusvlei departs from Swakopmund between 11 and 12 midday. We drive to our lodge near Sesriem through the Namib Desert via the Kuiseb Pass, Gaub Pass and Solitaire. A light lunch will be served en route. In the late afternoon we arrive at our safari camp near Sesriem and have some time to relax and enjoy the scenic setting. After settling in, we take a short walk to the Naukluft mountain range in time to catch a spectacular African sunset over the Namib Desert. We stay in adobe-styled permanent tents or twin rooms with en-suite bathroom facilities. Dinner is prepared by your safari guide back at camp. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 03 Lodge near Sesriem, Namib Nauklauft Park

Today we leave camp at dawn arriving at the Namib Naukluft Park gate as the sun rises. Our drive takes us down an ancient river bed surrounded by the towering dunes of the Namib Desert as we head to the 2x4 parking area (around 55kms). From here we take a 4x4 shuttle into the Sossusvlei Dunes area to admire the beautiful orange-red sand dunes in the warm early morning light. The Sossusvlei Dunes of Namibia are amongst the highest dunes in the world and exploring this desert area we experience the quiet tranquility and solitude of this distinctive region. We explore the unique Sossusvlei area on foot before travelling into the barren Dead Vlei. This large expanse of bleached flat clay is covered in cracks and dotted with skeletal thorn trees, contrasting sharply with the huge, vibrantly coloured dunes in the background. From Dead Vlei we can either walk or catch the 4x4 shuttle back to our safari vehicle. Along the way back to our overnight lodge accommodation near Sesriem, we stop at the famous Dune 45. We climb the renowned sand dune or explore the area around the base, depending on what you prefer. Then we make our way back to Sesriem, visiting the nearby Sesriem Canyon, one of the few permanent water sources in the Namib. After Sesriem Canyon we return to our safari lodge arriving in the late afternoon in time to catch a stunning sunset over the desert. Our overnight stay is in twin share rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathrooms. Dinner will be prepared by your safari guide at camp. (BLD).

Day 04 Sesriem to Windhoek

On day four of this Namibia Safari Adventure, we enjoy an early breakfast before heading to a guest farm in Solitaire. Here we join a biologist to track wild cheetahs at the Na'ankuse Namib Conservation Centre. Then we drive to Windhoek via Bullsport and Rehoboth. Arriving in Windhoek in the mid-afternoon, you will be dropped off at your post-tour accommodation, the bus terminal, or the International Airport - bringing this scenic Safari to Swakopmund & Namibia's Sossusvlei Dunes to a close. (B) Please Note: If you are catching an onward flight on the last day of this safari, we strongly recommend that you do NOT book any flights departing before 17h00. We advise booking flights after 17h00 in case there are any unexpected delays on safari.
